Who we are
Organized, led, and facilitated by researchers in the Anthropology and Botany departments at the California Academy of Sciences, this group works together with Tribal partners, educators and researchers to conduct interdisciplinary research aimed at integrating Indigenous Knowledge with Western science (braided science) to address issues in museum science, archaeology/anthropology, and conservation.

By taking a braided science approach we acknowledge the importance of socio-ecological systems and take a more holistic approach to addressing research questions.
We are committed to ensuring this research is a true partnership that directly serves Native communities, supports their goals, and honors their sovereignty over cultural knowledge.
